The visual identity of SURVIVAL 20

Official poster of the upcoming SURVIVAL Art Review in Wrocław – the oldest contemporary art review in Poland.

The visual identity by Łukasz Paluch relates directly to the edition’s main slogan: PILLS, which will take place in the former Betania hospital at Traugutta 118, Wrocław.

Pills, blisters full of associations

This year’s festival slogan refers to the multitude of meanings hidden under the term “PILLS”. It is, among others, the metaphor of the blue and red pills from the cult movie “The Matrix”, a reference to psychoactive substances or inducing altered states of consciousness. All issues are related to the history of cultural, social and political changes: – Although the taboo related to mental illness seems to be slowly decreasing and the number of people seeking professional help is growing, the progressing mental health crisis in Poland affects an increasing number of people – says Małgorzata Miśniakiewicz, curator of Przegląd Sztuki . On the other hand: – In the language of the media, the term “provide information in a nutshell” has been replaced by “information pills”, because what counts is speed of action, immediate effect – he adds. The reflection on the subject of mental health in social issues will also be deepened in the form of expert debates that will accompany the main exhibition.

The 20th edition of SURVIVAL will take place between 24 and 28 June in the former Betania hospital at ul. Traugutta 118.
